Communications Belt Loop #3: Read a book that has been approved by your parent or teacher. Discuss the book with an adult.

I just finished listening to Book 1 of the Kane Chronicles "The Red Pyramid" with my mom on audiobook. It's about two kids who are born of the Pharoahs and accidentally got two of the Egyptian gods (Horus and Isis) stuck in their heads. They have to stop Set, the evil and powerfulest of them all, who has trapped Osiris (who is also a god and has equal power to him) from destroying North America. They do this with help from Bast the cat goddess, Xia the magician and Amos, their uncle the magician and Hufu. Hufu is a baboon who is protected by Thoth, who protects all baboons. He likes to play basketball and only eats stuff that ends in "o". He even eats flamingo!! They are also helped by Phillip, the albino crocodile who loves swimming in his pool and also Thoth, a mad scientist of a god. And when we say mad, we mean "MAD" he doesn't even know that blues music is invented yet!

The Kane Chronicles was made by the same person who made Percy Jackson and the Olympians (the Lighting Thief, and the whole entire series) and there really is a red pyramid. Basically, the white bricks got peeled back and it turned out the inside is pink. But it is not really evil, but some of the stuff in the book is true. Shopti are real and it's true that magicians were really famed throughout Egypt. I'm looking forward to the next book and if the story is true, let's just hope not. (Mom's note: It's not.)
